Wireless Route Responds To Ping But No Internet Though Led Blinks

#1
I am having iball 150M ADSL router I have been using this router for past one year without any problems.

Recently I noticed
I can browse the internet via this router using a lan wire.

When connected wirelessly the router is unable to connect to internet some times.
I thought it was a broadband connectivity issue (because in my locality a private company is digging roads and many times to put their OFC broadband cables are cut)

but the problem is not the digging of roads. When connected via wireless router was responding to ping.
i.e. ping 192.168.1.1 is replying but there is no internet connection.

Where as in same situation if I put my lan wire then I can connect to internet.
What should I check or do? Following is my iball 150

Hi Jamesbon

Pinging 192.168.1.1 means you are able to ping your gateway (which is local, not on internet). Can you please try to ping 192.168.1.1 and in second command prompt window ping www.google.com and let us know the result.
If the internet light is blinking red it means for sure your internet is disconnected or your router is unable to get internet signal from your modem, in this case you should not be able to connect to internet be it wired or wireless.
It is very much possible that your router goes under electro magnetic interface or static goes high due to which you are unable to browse internet, its better to move router to any other place away from other electrical equipments and check.
If internet light on router goes red then please ensure Ethernet cable between your modem and router is connected securely and if possible then try to swap the ends of cable.
Please update your routers wireless settings too

Under same conditions wired connections work (i.e. internet works)
Following is ping reply when connected with LAN wire in RJ-45

nerd@ubuntu:~$ ping www.google.com
PING www.google.com (74.125.236.178) 56(84) bytes of data.

Following is when going wireless

nerd@ubuntu:~$ ping www.google.com

from a wireless connection

Now the LED of router is blinking (internet one)
the internet connection is there I can browse the internet through the LAN wire.
When I am connected to this router wirelessly then internet does not work.

I am also having a Nokia Smartphone which uses the wireless connection even that cell phone can not get the internet if I am using wifi from this router.Previously it was working.

Scanning the wifi network

nerd@ubuntu:~$ sudo iwlist eth1 scanning | egrep 'Cell |Encryption|Quality|Last beacon|ESSID'
Cell 01 - Address: Lolz:Lolz:Lolz:Lolz:Lolz
ESSID:"abit2"
Quality:5/5 Signal level:-40 dBm Noise level:-92 dBm
Encryption key:eek:n

Note the ESSSID to which I am connected.

- Device: eth1 [abit2] --------------------------------------------------------

the internet is there in router I can access internet via a LAN wire under same conditions. You can see ping test results above.

I had to finally submit the router to iball service centre they replaced and gave a new router, it took one week for them to replace ( time told by service centre people ) , and exactly after 7 days they gave me a new router.
The new router is working good.I have internet availability now and wifi is also working good.
