On the Dish TV website I saw that a channel by the name of TV5/TV5 Monde was mentioned on there. And what surprised me was that the channel was priced at Rs150 per month, which I thought for one channel is outrageous! Does anyone know what this channel is about and why its so costly!

Rs. 75 or Rs. 150! Outrageously expensive. And I doubt very much whether anyone ever subscribes to it. But I think Preeti is correct. Here is verbatim from DishTV website:

There are a lot of French speaking people who live in India and this population is increasing by the day although its just a few thousand in total (my guess) and those people would not mind paying for a channel in their own language just like us Indians pay stupid amount of money abroad to get Hindi channels.. Rs150 per channel is nothing compared to what I used to pay for Hindi channels in UK.

but interesting thing is that this channel is free to air and can be received freely from Thaicom1 satellite and is telecated on many other local cable services as a free to air channel but dish tv is taking 150/75 per month.
