Although the monsoon season is near enough finished, but for next year planning, I thought it would get good to know which places are best to visit during the monsoon season. This year the time just went past in deciding and nothing really happened.

Hill places I suppose are a no, due to going up hill and heavy rains!

So what other destinations do you suggest to visit in the Monsoon?

When I think of monsoons, the best place to visit in India for me is Pune and the places around it. It's fun to be in Pune during this season. Most of the times it just drizzle with few heavy showers especially from July-September.

The places I recommend to visit around Pune during monsoon are Lonavla-Khandala, Mulshi, Thamhini, Khadagwasla.

If you want more thrill you can go to Siangarh, Panchgani, Mahabaleshwar but being hilly they are little bit risky.

There are beaches within 150-200 Kms from Pune like Alibagh, Kashid, Harihareshwar, Devyagarh, etc.

There are many more places I've visited during monsoons around Pune. Perhaps, Gothic and J4X will add more.

Pune is the City which gives you the reach to all type of places you would like to visit.

I'm yet to explore Bangalore, but I feel it's very similar to Pune. Atleast, climate wise.

P.S.- The Mumbai-Pune-Bangalore highway is another place to visit during monsoon. :D But at your own risk. :punk:

Last year monsoon I was in Kerala. It was an amazing experience. If you visit Kerala & if it doesn't rains then you are surely missing something.

all the places mentioned sound good, thats the only problem Ramesh, hoping it doesnt rain and if it does then the holidays not worth it is it then?

When I went the rain was very mild & it was not continuous. Yup you are right, if it rains heavily then the total holiday gets spoiled.

Yes, Pune is awesome place to be in monsoon, Well maddy has covered almost all places we've been in monsoon, Mulshi-Thamhini-Harihareshwar was best, Also mahabaleshwar and Siangarh will be bit risky to go..

But there's one more place called Kundalika, The Kundalika is a small river flowing from the Hills of Sahyadri to the Arabian Sea. But the main attraction their is rafting and jungle.. and it becomes heaven in monsoon.. You go and live in hut, Prepare your own food, Go for rafting(if you like it).. and it's just 88 kms from pune..

It will rain every where during monsoon, unless of course there is a drought. So if you want to avoid rains, better stay indoors or visit the nearest Mall.

But if you want to really enjoy the monsoon, try visiting any of the sea shores. The sea is at its magnificient best during the monsoon. You may not get much of bathing opertunity (could be risky) but it would be a visual treat to watch.

The best place to be during monsoon is in your home having tea with garam garam pakodas.

For next month i have 2 plans in hand
1st plan is to visit Himachal for 4 days otherwise same spot Bombay again for 4 days with friends :)

In himachal can think of going to Kangra Valley from where we get a good view of Dhauladhar range of Himalayas and just on the next step there is Dharamshala which is another great place to visit. If plan works out the i will prefer Himachal this time :)

many people are thinking Uttarakhand is a better place at monsoon, because rest of India , doesnt get cool but humid indeed, so i was telling them for that..
