    Hi Frendz,

Some 1 please help in fixing my issue in Connecting Newly bought NETGEAR DGN1000 Modem & Router to BSNL Connection.

I tried the below settings but still the network doesn't connects.
But after doing the below settings, All the modem indicates Green also for Internet connection. But internet is not opening.

    I did the below settings:

    Working configuration
Log in to the router’s admin page by opening your browser and navigating to, with the username admin and default password password. You can safely cancel the firmware update check and do it at a later point of time. Now click on Basic Settings.

    Basic Settings
Does you internet connection require a login? Yes
    Encapsulation: PPPoE (PPP over Ethernet)
    Login: <your BSNL login username>
    Password: <your BSNL login password>
    Service name: <ignore>
Internet IP address: Get dynamically from ISP (or if you had obtained a static IP from BSNL on request, you can enter it here)
    Primary DNS:
    Secondary DNS:
    NAT: Enable
Now click on Apply and wait for a moment while the page refreshes with the updated settings. Then click on ADSL Settings.

    ADSL Settings
    Multiplexing Method: LLC-Based
    VPI: 0
    VCI: 35
    DSL Mode: Auto (Multi-Mode)
Now click on Apply and after the settings are updated, click on Wireless Settings.

    Wireless Settings
Name (SSID): <Any name you want> (This is the name that will be broadcasted by your router and seen by all WiFi-enabled devices in range)
    Region: Asia
Channel: 11 (You can change this to some other value, if you notice interference with other wireless or radio-based devices in the vicinity)
    Mode: g & b
Allow broadcast of Name (SSID): Check
Security Options: The safest option would be WPA2-PSK. Select this option and enter a key, preferably a long one, with alphabets, numbers and special characters. After your full setup is done, try connecting your devices to the router. Laptops, especially with Vista Home edition, are known to be having difficulty connecting to the DGN1000 with WPA2-PSK, or even WPA-PSK, for that matter. If you cannot connect, change the security to WEP. After selecting WEP, enter a key that is exactly 10 characters in length.
Now click on Apply and after the settings are updated, move to LAN Settings.

    LAN Settings
    IP Address:
    IP Subnet Mask:
Use Router as DHCP Server: Check
    Starting IP Address:
    Ending IP Address:
Apply the settings. Once the LEDs on the front of the router are stable, check if you are able to connect to the internet. Then check for wireless connectivity. You should be good to go! And always, always remember to backup your settings before you decide to change something!

But still not connecting....Pls feedback me...

Thanks a lot for posting the screen shots as requested by me in this thread.

The menu pages all appear similar to other latest Netgear wifi routers.
Let us wait for feedback from the thread starter. @ triveni

EDIT: This post is based on a misunderstanding. It is not relevant --- but some information in it may be useful

It is nice to see the full router config given in a query like this --- but it is necessary to have the PC config too.

How is TCP/IP properties set up?

    Output of

    C:\> ipconfig /all

    Ouput of

C:\> ping <router-IP> (unlikely not to work if you can log into the router!)

    C:\> ping www<dot>ubuntu<dot>com
PING www<dot>ubuntu<dot>com( 56(84) bytes of data. <<< if you don't see the translation to an IP address then DNS is the problem.
    64 bytes from ( icmp_req=1 ttl=46 time=223 ms <<< shows you have there-and-back connectivity.

When attempting to browse the web, what is the exact error message?

    Hi Nick_H,

If you are asking me then my internet is working fine. I don't have any problem. I have shared the screenshot because I think it will help someone to configure the same Netgear router with BSNL Broadband connection.

Please find ipconfig / ping screen shot.

Please see my article in this link.
    Choosing a Wireless Router

I am using ADSL modem Beetel 110BXI and also
a wifi router WGR614V6 for past 4 years, ( Max 54 Mbps data transfer)and found it suitable for my Internet usage.
Broadband speed was 2 Mbps earlier and now 512 Kbps.
There are some advantages in using two different units.

You may specify, your special requirements in selecting a 3-in 1
adslmodem+wifi router or a Stand alone wifi router .

    @ essbee

I am going to take the BSNL broadband 600 Rs plan (2 MBPS - Night unlimited). Surely I am going to use for 6 hours continuously. So, I am wishing to go for a good modem and router. The reason behind choosing the adslmodem+wifi router is compactness.. thats all nothing more than that. Suggest me whether it is better or not

    For new users/ beginners:
Better to take ON RENT Type 2 modem+wifi router if available from BSNL.
Can be surrendered in working condition, and security Deposit adjusted against future bills. ( usually free/replacement / tech assistance )

If Wifi activity Range/Height is not covered, another wifi router
    can be used.
Netgear products you can get assistance on Phone.

Yup! I know abt rental modem. But, they are not giving rental modem now. They asked me to purchase the modem for 2,250/-. I thought its better to go for NETGEAR which is 2,350/- in our local market. What will u suggest me?

You can buy as suggested by actual user @rahool 26.

How many systems you intend to use desktop/laptop/smartphones cellphones etc ?

I am going to use my laptop and cell phone (Xperia X10 mini)

    Thank you dude!
I just purchased the modem today only.
I didn't get the connection till now. But I may get it within a week.
I opened the pack and inserted the Setup CD. It telling that a live connection should be available to start the setup.

But, how come? ADSL is also in the same one.
What are the initial settings for connecting to net through ADSL. Will it be provided by BSNL or we should get on over selves?
