I have UT-STAR Type 2 Single Port wireless (WA3002-g1) modem and windows 7 RC with windows home 500c plan.

My problem is that when the computer wakes up after hybernation or sleep bsnl connection I have created fails to connect to the net with the message: Connecting through WAN Miniport (PPPOE)…. Error 651: The modem has reported an error.

    Can someone please help?

Lot of other users reported the same issue. seems to be a bug in Windows 7.Contact Microsoft! or wait until they release a fix for this.

Local Area Connection is enabled. The problem only occurs after the computer wakes from sleep or during hibernation, etc.

    See this link.
Error 651 with PPPoE connections in Windows 7 | Windows Reference
    Code:
Again, you are not alone, this seems to be a

known bug in Windows 7 that is being worked at.

However, you can workaround this problem.

The RAS PPPoE driver file “raspppoe.sys” found under

c:windowssystem32drivers folder seems to be the

root cause of the problem. Fortunately, we can

workaround the problem simply by renaming the

original raspppoe.sys file to something like

    “raspppoe_orig.sys” copying a working file from a

Windows Vista system. If you do not have access to a

Windows Vista system. click here to download

    raspppoe.sys file (unzip).

Yes... i implemented your suggestion, however, now I'm getting error which says that the connection couldnot be established due to the modem not being found...also, if possible, can somebody, give me the link where as to download the raspppoe.sys file which is available in WINDOWS 7 that is to say that I already have the file from VISTA but I want the orignal for WINDOWS 7 (RC 1 if possible... if not, it's fine)

The problem is the file in Window 7. and that is why VISTA version has been suggested.

    In google search :
    type search term ;
    raspppoe.sys windows 7 RC

Check the IP of router in modem. Please post ipconfig/all screen shots after blackening personal details.

    Procedure

    Start > Run > cmd > ipconfig/all

I am using Bsnl Modem WA3002-g1.

I have done what you suggested. However, I cannot understand the last step of entering bsnl servers in the advanced setting. I already see the DNS numbers I had entered as suggested by you there in the DNS setting.
